Alexis Weir, Master Certified Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) Specialist

Alexis Weir brings over 15 years of hands-on experience and advanced education in movement, rehabilitation, and muscle function to her work as a Master Certified Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) Specialist.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from the University of Oklahoma, where she focused on the muscular system and exercise physiology. Her early experience as a Physical Therapy Technician sparked a deep interest in not only rehabilitation—but also prevention. She saw firsthand how strength training could reduce injury risk and enhance long-term physical function.

Alexis became a certified personal trainer with a specialty in slow resistance training, a safe and effective approach for injury recovery, aging-related muscle loss, and building strength in weak or vulnerable areas. Yet as she worked with clients, she noticed that strength alone wasn’t always enough. Many people struggled with movements they once performed easily—and she wanted to understand why.

That curiosity led her to Muscle Activation Technique, a system that identifies and corrects muscle inhibition at its source. She learned that when muscles don’t receive proper signals from the nervous system, they can’t function correctly—often causing pain, tightness, and joint instability. By restoring proper muscle activation, she helps clients move better, feel stronger, and reduce their risk of injury.

Alexis became MAT Certified in 2011 and has continued advancing her expertise ever since:

  • 2014: Master MAT Specialist (Level 2)
  • 2017: Rx Full Body Specialist (Level 3) — a credential held by fewer than 100 people worldwide

In addition to her MAT mastery, Alexis is also a Resistance Training Specialist (RTS), with in-depth knowledge of biomechanics, joint structure, and how external forces affect movement. She further deepened her education through FNS (Forces and the Nervous System), studying how to enhance the communication between muscles, joints, and the nervous system for optimal performance and healing.

As both a lifelong learner and someone who has experienced the physical demands of sports, injuries, and pregnancy herself, Alexis combines personal insight with clinical precision. She is passionate about helping people move without pain, regain strength, and feel empowered in their own bodies—at any stage of life.

Alexis lives in Castle Rock, Colorado with her husband, three children, and their dog. She continues to pursue ongoing education in human movement, exercise science, and performance to better serve her clients.
