Chiropractic medicine is a form of natural health care that focuses on treating a patient without the use of drugs or medicines. It is the largest natural health care profession in the world! Doctors of Chiropractic, more commonly known as Chiropractors, are primary health care providers. They focus on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous system, which in turn helps them focus on your general health. Every year, more than 30 million Americans see chiropractors as part of the regular health care programs!

Chiropractic techniques used:
Diversified – This is a widely used type of chiropractic adjustment technique and is one of the most familiar to patients. The adjustment is designed to restore normal joint and neurologic function to the area that is being addressed. With restored function comes pain relief and decrease in symptoms.

Thompson – This is a specific chiropractic method that utilizes a table that has several segments called drop pieces. A gentle thrust is applied to the joints and the drop pieces assist the thrust while minimizing the force used for the adjustment.

Webster – Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment of the sacrum. It is most commonly used on pregnant women and assisting the fetus to be in the ideal position. Sacral misalignment may contribute to difficult labor for the mother and a breeched fetal position. The corrections of sacral misalignment may have a positive effect on the birthing process.

Activator – This is a hand-held, spring-loaded instrument-based adjustment protocol. Instead of the adjusting forces being delivered by hand, force is generated with the small appliance that delivers a light quick thrust. In our office, Activator is most often used as a selective method for patients who may not desire a manual adjustment or where manual adjustment may be contraindicated.

Sacro-Occipital Technique/Craniopathy – This is a technique that looks at restoring normal function to the cranium. When function is restored it allows your central nervous system and cerebral spinal fluid to function optimally.

Extremity Adjusting – This is the application of chiropractic adjustments to joints other than those of the spine, i.e., shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand/finger, hip, knee, ankle/foot/toe. Examples of conditions treated by extremity adjustment: carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis and gait- or posture-related problems.
